Cathy Dixon, My Novel's Lead Character

 So let's focus in on my novel's lead character, Cathy Dixon! She's 32, and a retired model, so she's beautiful, sexy and hot, although perhaps not as much as the 100-odd models who work for her agency, Atlanta Models. Based in Georgia now, she got her modelling start in New York, where she became aware of the sexual exploitation of models within the fashion industry, and had a bit of a nasty run-in with one particular sleazeball.

After becoming moderately successful, she hung out in those days with a bunch of her contemporaries, and would sometimes spend the night with them. She's not sure if she's truly bi-curious, or whether it was just the stress of the job that needed relieving, but there were sexy times in bed with other models - and she loved it.

Yet that was all some time ago. Now she's running this agency, and it's not like other agencies. There's no harassment here, no exploitation, no sleazy execs. She creates an all-female atmosphere, where she helps her girls get modelling work. However, despite her best efforts, saving her girls from sexual exploitation also means that bigger contracts with famous fashion labels is out of her reach, since it is expected that her girls will have to have sex with the boss if they want to feature in some big-name modelling campaigns. Her girls therefore just do smaller assignments. Even so, they love the atmosphere at work and the support they receive from Cathy, so everyone is happy.

Cathy herself, though, finds herself bored out of her mind once the weekend comes. While her models go off to play with each other for sexy times in each other's apartments, Cathy feels it would be unethical and a contradiction in her values to join in and sleep with her models. After all, isn't that what she set the company up to avoid - models having to get sexy with the boss to get ahead?

So that's the quandary my heroine finds herself when - lo and behold! - who should walk into her life but the stud next door, the hunky Daniel Colston. What's he like, you ask? Well, you'll have to find out in my next post tomorrow!
